So while searching Box Brothers related stuff we came upon this site - usedcardboardboxes.com
now what these guys claim to do is to take used boxes from office moves and other corporate storage things and resell them to the public at a cheap rate. A nobel cause indeed. Save the enviroment and some trees.
The thing that chaps my hide however is that these guys are using boxbros.com as a comparision for their moving kits.
click on the pic for a full size view!Okay so where to begin. Well why would you pay the price for UHaul or Box Brothers? Well for starters the boxes are NOT USED. This company claims to be helping to stop deforestation by reselling boxes but the fact remains that almost all the cardboard in the United States now days is 85% post consumer used paper. So you are not really saving a tree, your just risking the bottom of your box falling out and killing all your glasses and dishes.
Second, the sizes these guy sell are not what they claim. The moving industry has standards for what sizes are considered "small", "medium", and "large".
A TRUE Medium Box is 3.0 cubic feet. a whole cubic foot larger than these guys sell. So it takes 3 of their mediums to fill in the same space as 2 of ours. You would need 13 of their boxes to do the same job as 9 REAL mediums.
Their large is 3.5. A TRUE Large is 4.5. your losing another cubic foot per box.
Their extra large is 4.5. a TRUE extra large is 6.0 or 6.1 depending on the shape. Your losing 1.5 cubic feet of space in their boxes at this point.
Suddenly this deal doesn't seem so good now huh?
